Although this is primarily an industrial area, there are still a few activities that remain to bring tourists to the area each year. Though not a popular tourist destination by any means and shy the services and resources necessary to attract tourism, Nikiski is not without some unique appeal to a small segment of visitors.

Commercial Set Net FishingCook Inlet Beaches

Beach access is limited and you must remain cautious not to stray onto the private property or oil and gas leases in the area.
During the commercial setnet fishing season, be carefull as there are cables streaching out from the shores far out into the inlet for the nets used in this fishery. These cables are extremely dangerous and all vehicle, four wheeler, and motorcycle traffic on the beaches needs to be kept to a minimum. If riding the beaches is to be done, consider going to the Ninilchik, Deep Creek or Anchor River areas for your safty.

Winter snowmobiling is available at the end of the north road. There is a parking area, loading ramp and trail leading up along Cook Inlet. Alot of this area is private property with cabins dotting the areas along the trail. Please respect the rights of the property owners at all times.
