Popular amongst tourist and local Alaskan vacationers alike. Much of the Deep Creek Recreation Area is written up in sporting magazines and newspapers across the country. This is an area full of outstanding recerational opportunities, hense the name "Alaska's Playground". If halibut fishing is what you desire, there are many great charters available to fullfill your desires. Those looking to partake in the world class salmon fishing in the river can do so with a pair of waders, hip boots, or good ole tennis shoes. No boat or guide is needed for this fishery. Be here in June and July for King Salmon and Dolly Varden fishing and plann on August for some great silver salmon fishing as well. Halibut can also be included for fishermen in Cook Inlet fishing the waters close to both Deep Creek and Ninilchik. When the low tides for the month arrive, plann on donning a pair of boots and getting envolved if the ever popular pastime of digging for Razor Clams here on the beaches around Deep Creek, Ninilchik and up as far as Clam Gulch.

Deep Creek Alaska!

Heading down the Sterling Highway about a mile from Ninilchik is the next popular fishing and clamming area where Deep Creek enters the waters of Cook Inlet. Located some 185 miles from Anchorage, Deep Creek is the focus of many Alaskans heading to the Kenai Peninsula for some camping on the beach and harvesting of the bounties of the oceans. Maybe that’s why Alaskans seem so healthy, lots of omega 3 in a diet from the sea.
